Also, anyone other than me think it would be a good idea/possible to have some kind of symbol or system to differentiate like rigorous academic research from blog posts and suchlike? - First thing that comes to mind: at Wikipedia they use some colorful chits that fit inline text, for various purposes. Here's a small selection of them. If you like, I could whip up something like that. Maybe like this but without the text? Or here's another; it should still look clearly like an "info" symbol when shrunk to 16px (found here, where there's more). This one might be good since it doesn't have any particular obvious meaning but draws attention. And blog posts can be noticed as such by not having a chit. - It is more like a research paper than a blog post (i.e. I recognize it as "doing academia"). Maybe expand to say the arrow "means that the resource is a scientific study or other academic paper." This would include for instance that paper by Guttmacher and W.H.O., neither of which are academia, but the paper is science. - The only reason I can think of to do it differently is because there are a lot of academic papers, so we may end up with more marked than not marked, which seems weird to me. I'm still not sure. CCipher 19:02, July 28, 2012 (UTC)

I'm trying to figure out what to do with axes of oppression other than gender. Because intersectionality, it seems weird and difficult to separate them from the feminism page, but because extremely long pages are hard to navigate, maybe we should be splitting off things. We definitely need an antiracism page or section, one on trans* issues, and one on LGB issues. (Oh, and of course I'm going to be on the Wiki! What else am I going to do with the vast swaths of time I'd otherwise be spending on Pharyngula? :P) CCipher 19:02, July 28, 2012 (UTC)
- I'm just about too tired to think. But. Maybe this should be a social justice link roundup, and then we break off subsections like reproductive health, economics, privilege, strategy, into their own pages with a "main article" link under the old subsection header. - My thinking is that a more general naming encourages lots of interesting things to happen. Like refutations of libertarianism; I didn't think of that. If some interesting things turn out to be unhelpful, we can cross or burn those bridges when we come to them? (Everything on this wiki is sort of implicitly "subject X in relation to Pharyngulan interests", I think; we won't and don't want to reinvent wikipedia:economics.) - Okay, I got it. It's probably the interaction of BlockSite with Wikia's rich text editor. You could either disable that in special:preferences, or, go to BlockSite's preferences in Firefox's about:addons -> Extensions, and uncheck "Enable link removal". If you don't see this preference, it may be new; I can confirm it's there in In the current version of BlockSite, 0.7.1.1. Blame MarkovBaines 22:43, July 29, 2012 (UTC)

The "complex code" deal is happening again. - It was an html comment, which just stores text so that it's invisible unless you're looking at the html source (or wikitext, around here). Basically a note to myself to consider integrating that link somehow, though I probably won't. I forgot about the rich text editor. Probably there's no way to get around it, so I've just removed the comment and moved the link here instead. Oh, and if I forget and do that again, you can just cut the comment and paste it here on the talk page, without the brackets. Blame MarkovBaines 03:13, September 27, 2012 (UTC)

The purpose of this section is explained here. The stories do not have to be about marriage. They do not have to be consciously political at all. Ideally we will have some stories which are not consciously political. If we get some personal accounts from Pharyngula commenters I may come up with something that automatically organizes them (functionally like the cookbook).
